Diagonal Lace

Diagonal Lace • Ribbed Neckwarmer • Snake Scarf

This is a fun simple lace pattern that creates diagonal stripes. It can be used by itself to create a scarf or incorporated into another pattern. I thought it might make a neat panel on a sweater, but I can't knit a sweater, so I wouldn't know.

Cast on 12 stitches.

Work rows 1 – 3 in garter stitch (knit all stitches).

Row 4: k2, [yo, k2, k2tog] two times, k2
Row 5: k2, p8, k2

Row 6: k2, [k2, k2tog, yo] two times, k2
Row 7: k2, p8, k2

Row 8: k2, [k1, k2tog, yo, k1] two times, k2
Row 9: k2, p8, k2

Row 10: k2, [k2tog, yo, k2] two times, k2
Row 11:k2, p8, k2

Row 12: k1, k2tog, yo, k2, k2tog, yo, k5
Row 13: k2, p8, k2

Repeat rows 4 – 13 until scarf is the desired length or until it starts to bore you.
